OptiMate Pro-S - an affordable OptiMate for professional workshops. Now, an affordable OptiMate for professional workshops. Based on the famous OptiMate III, Pro-S offers proven OptiMate technology in a handy workshop format, with 3 selectable charge currents for fast and correct charging of all types of MF power sports vehicle batteries, with built-in diagnostics. If you already have an OptiMate Pro4-S or Pro8-S but also need extra charging power & portability, OptiMate Pro-S is perfect. Or if you have a small or satellite workshop which needs a professional charger but cannot justify the expense of BatteryMate or Pro4-S, Pro-S is ideal. FEATURES Detects short-circuited cells Diagnoses sulphation Controlled desulphation Constant Current charge Charge verification action Voltage retention check Float charge maintenance Comprehensive LED info OPERATION 1. When correctly connected to the input & the battery, the charge programme will start if the battery retains at least 1V. 2. The DESULFATE orange LED comes on and the circuit checks whether or not the battery is sulphated & needs the special recovery mode. If required, the circuit automatically applies up to 22V to persuade the battery to accept an initial small current of just 200mA (400mA on the 4A selection), for a maximum of 2 hours. 3. As soon as the sulphated battery begins to accept the full 200mA current (400mA on the 4A selection), the voltage required to drive this automatically drops. This is indicated by the flashing of the orange LED, “RECOVER”. 4. After 7½ minutes the circuit checks the parameters to identify batteries with a definite short-circuited cell (red LED). 5. After 2 hours, or immediately for batteries without sulphation, the CHARGE yellow LED comes on and the selected constant current charge is delivered until the monitored voltage attains 14.4V. 6. The charge voltage is reduced to a limit of 13.6V for 30 minutes. In this period, if the voltage drops by 300mV, the programme reverts to step 5. During this CHARGE VERIFICATION PERIOD, the yellow CHARGE LED flashes. 7. When step 6 is complete, charging is paused for 30 minutes while the voltage is monitored. If the voltage stays at or above 12.6V, the ‘GOOD’ green LED comes on, or, if at or above 12.4V, the ‘OK’ yellow LED comes on, & the float charge maintains the battery till needed. If the voltage is < 12.4V, the red ‘WARNING’ LED comes on.
